My name’s Al Scorch and I’m a multi-disciplinary artist
and performer from Chicago, Illinois.

I’m a musician and songwriter currently in residence
at the Hideout in Chicago, IL for all of 2025.
I also tour nationally, and you can see my calendar here.

I make funny videos on social media, mostly about
Chicago, but there are other absurd characters as well.
A current favorite is a running series reviewing
Chicago Park District bathrooms…

I like to write poems as well. A poem I wrote about
Chicago style hot dogs went viral online, and
my friend Damara made an amazing poster image of it…

I collaborate with a some very talented visual artists,
and you can buy posters and t-shirts with their Scorch art
at my webstore, OverByThere.Com

On top of all this, I also own and operate a vintage clothing store,
in Chicago’s Irving Park neighborhood, with two of
my friends.
We’re called Apricot Vintage. We’re located at
4108 N Pulaski Rd and we also sell online.

If you’re a fan of what I do, and want to support regularly,
please consider checking out my Patreon for exclusive content,
and lunch tours of Chicago.

Paul Vallas Hates House Music – Write up in Block Club Chicago

Lovely write up from Block Club Chicago about how Charlie, Hawk, and I made an election season banger. We were part of a groundswell of artists that helped get out the vote for Chicago’s new progressive mayor-elect Brandon Johnson

and of course check out the song and video itself!

Voting Videos for Chicago’s 2023 Mayoral Race!

I produced these get-out-the-vote songs and videos for Chicago’s Mayoral Runoff. Chicago has now elected a progressive mayor for the first time in 40 years and it feels very hopeful around here.

Losing candidate Paul Vallas was quoted as saying he hates House Music, say what? We had to clown on him for that, and let him know that HouseMusic is the heartbeat of Chicago!

Ohiolina Music Festival 2021

Honored to be playing Ohiolina Music Festival 2021 tomorrow just outside of Columbus, OH with Dom Flemons, The Tillers, and Charlie Parr. Thanks for inviting me to share some songs and stories!

Playing a set Friday evening at 9:40 pm and holding a workshop on dropthumb banjo technique and songwriting Saturday morning at 11 am. Looking forward to this fine weekend of music amongst the trees of Ohio’s late golden summer.
